Hi all,
Just a quick update.
I'm still full steam on the modding system, and making great progress.
I have just completed the OBJ mesh importer, which is used to dynamically import models from active maps.
I chose the OBJ file type because it is easy to work with and it is supported by all major modelling applications (Blender, 3DS Max, Maya etc.).
Next I'm going to work on the Material/Texture system, which is one of the final steps required to have all entities in the game (spaceships, equipment, environmental stuff) defined in mods.

When I complete this work we'll do a DevLog showing the mod system in operation, including customising a ship. I will also do a post with more technical details.
